A surgeon making the right decision starts with the right quality of the data, which is directly related to your role.
As Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for the electrical design of our sensor unit. You will translate requirements into technical solutions that allow a surgeon to treat patients more effectively, and you will be involved in every stage of the development process along the way.
Your first responsibility will be leading the electrical and firmware development of our V2 device, while continuing to support and improve the electronics of our current V1 system already in the field.
As our Electrical & Firmware Engineer you would:
● Design, develop, and validate all HW and FW for our Class IIa medical device, from schematic capture through layout, prototyping, and implementation.
● This includes BLE and antenna design, RTOS and programming in C.
● EMC and IEC 60601 testing doesn't worry you and testing your designs to failure by yourself is your default. You treat it as part of making things work reliably.
● Write and maintain firmware for our embedded systems, balancing new V2 development with ongoing V1 support and improvements.
● Source and manage suppliers for electronic components and assemblies, building resilient, scalable supply chains.
● Conduct electrical and functional tests on prototypes and production units, analyse results, and drive continuous improvement with the team.
● Create and maintain technical documentation: schematics, test protocols, firmware specs, and work instructions that others can reproduce.
● Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Software, and Clinical teams, as well as suppliers, to align electrical solutions with regulatory and performance needs, now and in future product development.
● Set your own priorities and goals, managing your time across support and development without losing sight of what matters most.
● Take the lead on electrical and firmware decisions, anticipating risks and using data to boost quality, reliability, and manufacturability while keeping COGS and lead times in check.
● Affinity with optical design is a very strong plus, our sensor is based on optical principles, and our key electrical components are light emitters and receivers.
What we expect from you
● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or equivalent
● 3–5 years of relevant experience in PCB design and embedded firmware development
● Proven ability to take ownership and lead work with minimal oversight
● Strong time management skills: able to set goals and priorities independently across parallel workstreams
● Experience in supplier management and establishing supply chains for electronic components and assemblies
● Experience working in a regulated industry, such as medical devices (MDR, ISO 13485, IEC 60601), and with design documentation, is a plus
● Experience with Fusion 360 is a plus
● Experience programming in/ for Android, Flutter or Dart is a plus
